今回は英語のフレーズを紹介したいと思います。

【heaps of】

“heaps of” は、非常に多くのものや量を表現するための表現です。オーストラリアでよく使われている表現のようなので、オーストラリアに住んでいる方はよく耳にしているかもしれません。

I have heaps of work to do before the deadline.
（締切り前にやらなければならない仕事がたくさんあります。）

みたいな感じです。

類似の表現としては “a lot of” や “plenty of” などがあります。

この他に、下記のような表現もあります。

Heaps of: “There are heaps of books on that shelf.”
（山ほどの本がその棚にあります。）
A lot of: “I have a lot of work to do before the deadline.”
（締め切り前にやるべき仕事がたくさんあります。）
Tons of: “There are tons of snacks in the pantry.”
（パントリーにはたくさんのお菓子があります。）
Plenty of: “There’s plenty of time to finish the project.”
（プロジェクトを終えるのに十分な時間があります。）
Numerous: “Numerous students attended the seminar.”
（多くの学生がセミナーに参加しました。）
Countless: “I have received countless compliments on my artwork.”
（私のアートワークには数え切れないほどの賛辞を受けました。）
Several: “I’ve read several books on the topic.”
（そのトピックについていくつかの本を読みました。）
A great deal of: “He has a great deal of experience in marketing.”
（彼はマーケティングの豊富な経験があります。）
A large number of: “A large number of participants joined the competition.”
（多数の参加者が競技に参加しました。）
An abundance of: “There is an abundance of fresh produce at the market.”
（市場には新鮮な農産物が豊富にあります。）
A multitude of: “A multitude of colors are available for the car.”
（車には多くの色が用意されています。）
A slew of: “There was a slew of problems to address.”
（解決すべき問題がたくさんありました。）
A stack of: “There’s a stack of papers on my desk.”
（私の机の上には山積みの紙があります。）
A pile of: “There’s a pile of clothes in the laundry room.”
（洗濯室には服の山があります。）
A load of: “I have a load of laundry to do.”
（洗濯物をたくさん洗濯しなければなりません。）
A bunch of: “He brought a bunch of flowers to the party.”
（彼はパーティーに花束を持ってきました。）
A horde of: “A horde of fans gathered outside the stadium.”
（ファンの大群がスタジアムの外で集まりました。）
A wealth of: “The library contains a wealth of knowledge.”
（その図書館には知識の宝庫があります。）
A swarm of: “A swarm of bees buzzed around the hive.”
（ハチの大群が巣の周りをブンブンと飛び回っていました。）
A sea of: “The concert drew a sea of excited fans.”
（コンサートは興奮したファンの大海を引き寄せました。）
